Reading Circle
St. John’s Reading Circle: We meet on Tuesday, January 28th, at 7 pm in the sanctuary to discuss Jeremy Cooper’s novel Brian, “A tender meditation on friendship and the importance of community, Brian is also a tangential work of film criticism, one that is not removed from its subject matter, but explores with great feeling how art gives meaning to and enriches our lives.” (Goodreads review)
Bishop Carla Blakley Visits
Bishop Carla Blakley, Eastern Synod, will be preaching at St. John’s on Sunday, January 26th, and staying with us for a potluck luncheon after the service. If you can, bring a favourite dish to share. Come for great company and conversation!
Young Adults Event in the Old Port
Young Adults Event: Saturday, January 25th, 1 pm - 4 pm. We will learn a bit of the history of Montreal at the Site Historique Marguerite-Bourgeoys and the Notre-Dame-de-Bonsecours Chapel in Old Montreal. Student admission to the museum is $7 (ages 18-25), adults $10.
Ecumenical Celebration
Week of Prayer for Christian Unity: An ecumenical celebration will take place at Mary Queen of the World Cathedral this Sunday, January 19th, at 3 pm. This year’s theme, “Do You Believe This?” (Jn 11:26), marks the 1700th anniversary of the Council of Nicaea. All are welcome.
